About Union Square in Bloom
Established in 2022, ‘Union Square in Bloom’ celebrates the district’s floral legacy with a modern twist. For decades, flowers, particularly daffodils, were handed out to visitors walking through Maiden Lane, an alleyway with historic appeal. Macy’s previously hosted its annual flower show, established in 1964, and several flower stands brightened up the district.
From March to September 2025, Union Square will once again come alive with ‘Union Square in Bloom,’ Visitors will be welcomed by stunning floral displays, community events, hotel stays, couture, gastronomy, and cocktails.
Bloom 2025 Kicks Off with Tulip Day!
March 22, 2025
Tulip Day 2025, a free one-day event hosted by the Union Square Alliance, Athos, the Dutch Consulate, and the City of San Francisco, brings over 50,000 people to Union Square to celebrate spring. With 80,000 tulips to pick, attendees can create their own mini garden while enjoying the eco-friendly spirit of the day. The event features an opening ceremony and a performance by the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, and it supports local businesses by drawing visitors to the area. With growing attendance and media reach, sponsoring Tulip Day offers brands great visibility and the chance to align with a beloved community celebration of culture, nature, and sustainability.
Event Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Location: Corner of Post & Stockton Street
Line-Up Begins: 10:00 AM
ADA Entrance: Located at the corner of Post & Stockton
Event Guidelines:
- The tulip garden opens to the public at 1:00 PM and closes at 4:00 PM.
- You will have 5 minutes in the garden and may pick up to 8 tulips.
- Please respect the 8-tulip limit—any extra tulips will be confiscated at the exit.
- This is a smoke-free event.
- Expect wait times and be patient with fellow attendees.

Spotlight of Floral Designers
Becky and Virginia are both San Francisco natives and have spent the beginning years of their careers at various corporate companies and startups. Their drive for more creative spaces and entrepreneurial spirit has led them to start Marbled Mint.
Marbled Mint is an established floral design team with a studio based in San Francisco, in the heart of the Mission district. They specialize in weddings, team-building workshops, and curated experiences. Their passion is to bring beauty and joy into the community!

Zaddy Blooms, a full-service event design studio, was born in the Bay Area in 2020. He specializes in weddings and editorials. Owner Peter Bonavita is known for his big, bold, and colorful designs inspired by English gardens and pop culture.

Jacqueline Devins is the founder and creative force behind Poppy Cart, a boutique event and wedding floral design studio based in Northern California, servicing the Bay Area and beyond. A lifelong lover of flowers and plants, influenced by her floral artist grandmother and floral community, Jacqueline honed her skills through years of practice. She draws inspiration from the natural beauty surrounding us, using seasonal and locally sourced blooms to create unique arrangements that reflect the beauty of the changing seasons. She intends to share flowers’ beauty, joy, and healing powers with others.
