Union Square is a lively, bustling area in my home and favorite city in the world! I enjoy its centralized location and lively energy.
I love to sit in the Square and watch the myriad of people from all over the globe wander by. It is a great place to come for artistic inspiration.
My inspiration for this ornament is derived from the excitement and energy that comes rolling in with the Holidays. The lights, colors, the smells, the flavors, the feels, and the whimsical spirit of imagination that is entwined in the fabric of the season all brew together in my mind and come out as the playful patterns and designs you see on the piece.

San Francisco artist Laura Ann Trimble Elbogen of Laura Ann Studio paints blue and white inspired #WindowToTheBay custom watercolor home portraits, licensed landmark art + gifts, and kid lit empowering moms + kids to grow confidently in the direction of their dreams! She is drawn to public squares and plazas in her travels and loves Union Square as a local for its landmarks, cafes, shops, and culture.
The Window To The Bay blue & white ornament celebrates Union Square’s holiday best! The square SF 7×7 grid marks cherished landmarks: flower stands & Maiden Lane shopping; ice skating mid palms, a giant Christmas tree & menorah; the wreaths of Alma, cable cars, Macy’s windows & Tiffany’s boxes!

Muralist, painter, and illustrator drawing inspiration from street art, comic books, animated film, and contemporary art from SF. As the home of many firsts like movie dates, ice skating, buying my first gifts, and where I poured over many books and window displays, Union Square has been a part of so many core memories that I consider it an essential part of the city as well as myself.
“The Bay in Toyland” was inspired by my memories of past Union Square staple and childhood fantasyland, FAO Schwartz. Iconic SF imagery is reimagined as a life-sized Toyland, paying attention to the city’s vast cultural diversity while paying tribute to some of their holiday traditions.

Hello everyone! I’m Hayley and it is an honor to paint this ornament for Union Square. I have been painting murals for 22 years and run the Bay Area Muralist nonporfit Colors For Kids where we paint murals and teach art to foster children.
Union Square is important to me because I have fond memories of coming here during the holidays, especially when I was in college. Now I take my family here every year to ice skate and watch the tree lighting. Now I get to have a small part of it. I hope you love my ornament!

I am an artist born in San Francisco and I feel it is important to share my culture because San Francisco and Union Square have always been a hub for creatives and it is the best place to be yourself. What I love about my city is the diversity, so much good food, and how rich the culture is. We have the best Warriors and Giants fans in the world!
I want to share this beautiful parol symbol (Filipino ornamental lantern) because it is a celebration of Christmas, coming together as a family, and lighting the path. When a star lights up a home, it shows people that there is someone always waiting for them at home.

I’m a Bay Area born artist and muralist.
My work explores the connection and compositional strategies between fragmented shapes, uncanny figures, and flamboyant colors. Union Square has always been an important center of holiday spirit in the Bay Area. I’m honored to be a part of the city’s rich artistic history and make a creative contribution for all the people enjoying the holidays in Union Square.
My ornament brings to the forefront the unique vibrant colors, contrasts, and textures that exist in cities and ornaments everywhere. Each portion changes as your visual scope rotates. The piece creates multiple points of view, an homage to the larger diversity of this city and our global landscape.
